Careers Day 2013

Former students who forged a career in the world of media and communication returned to the School on Wednesday February 6, to inspire the next generation of Leeds graduates during the annual Careers Day.

Alumni with a wide range of distinguished jobs delivered a series of careers talks, offering current undergraduates the opportunity to gain advice and ask plenty of questions on how to get a job. Students also had the chance to talk individually to the experts at a special networking session after the panel sessions.

Among the guests were the winner of the ITV competition The Exclusives, journalists from Sky, ITN and The Sun, a Sony Award winning radio reporter, producers of documentaries and light entertainment shows such as the X Factor, Jeremy Kyle and Coach Trip, and the producer of the Vodafone Top 40 radio chart. The event also featured advice on how to get a job in the Communications, PR and New Media industries. The biographies of the speakers can be found here.

During the day, we asked our guests what they liked about Leeds, how their time here helped them kick start their career, and what top tips they could offer for getting a job.
