Katy Parry announced as new co-editor of Media, War and Conflict journal
June 5th, 2018
Dr Katy Parry was named the new co-editor of Media, War and Conflict at the journal’s 10th anniversary conference, ‘Spaces of War, War of Spaces’, which took place in Florence on 22-23 May 2018, hosted at Accademia Europea di Firenze.
The aim of the conference, which was co-organised by Katy Parry, was to evaluate and reflect upon the significant transformations in the way war and conflict is produced, negotiated, remembered and ‘felt’ in and with media over the last ten years. It was a great success, with 75 delegates enjoying stimulating presentations over the two days in Florence.
Katy worked with her co-editors Sarah Maltby (University of Sussex), Ben O’Loughlin (Royal Holloway) and Laura Roselle (Elon University, USA) to put together a programme of presentations, including an all-women plenary discussion about women, conflict and journalism, a keynote address from Andrew Hoskins (University of Glasgow), and a film screening of ‘The Faces We Lost’ directed by Piotr Cieplak (University of Sussex). Curated tweets from the conference can be read online.
