Are careers in politics just for the bad guys?

Clothworkers’ Central, Speakman Lecture Theatre

Two University of Leeds alumni – Simon Buckby, former advisor to Tony Blair, and Jon Mendelsohn, a Labour peer in the Corbyn era – come together to discuss the fallout with Brexit and the General Election, as well as ‘fake news’ who would trust a political journalist or want a career in Politics?

 


Simon Buckby is a Managing Partner at international business communications consultancy, Instinctif Partners. He graduated from Leeds with a 2:1 in history in 1988. He has been a journalist for the Financial Times and a political reporter for the BBC.

 

 

 

 

 


Jon Mendelsohn is a partner at Oakvale Capital LLP a corporate finance boutique and Chairman at Redbus Group Investment Company whose holdings include the Redbus Media group. A Leeds Politics Graduate in 1989 he is now a Labour member of the House of Lords and Shadow Business Spokesman.
